Who is Jeremy Hanson

Introduction

Jeremy Hanson, from the Canadian Space Agency, is the first astronaut to join a mission to the Moon. He along with 3 other astronauts will be part of the Artemis 2 mission, which is set to launch in 1st of April. Jeremy has raised on a farm and has been with the Canadian Space Agency for about a decade. He is excited to be part of this historic mission and looks forward to exploring the Moon and conducting scientific research there.

Background

Hanson was born in London, Ontario. He began his career in the aerospace industry after receiving a private pilot licence in 1993.

After many years of training and experience, he was selected to join the Canadian Space Agency in 2009 throught the third Canadian Astronaut Recruitment Campaign. Hanson and the CSA had worked with the European Space Agency for collarborations like the CAVES programme. In 2017, Jeremy Hansen becomes the first Canadian to lead a NASA astronaut class

Finally, in 2023, Jeremy Hanson was selected for the Artemis 2 mission!
